I hope you are all doing well, and surviving whatever nature is throwing at you. A bit of an update and some news. Also, see below about making sure your information is correct for shipping.
Gorinto
While you wait for Rare Roses to arrive, my partner Grand Gamers Guild just launched their next game on Kickstarter: Gorinto. It's very different from anything they've done before. Just like Endangered, we can't bring Gorinto to life without your help.
Gorinto, an abstract(ish) engine-builder, is like Azul and Kingdom Builder had a baby. While the core mechanic is the same every turn--move a tile from the Path (perimeter) onto the Mountain (main board), and gather surrounding tiles--how you go about implementing your tactics will vary from game to game. Gorinto plays 1-4 in 30-45 minutes, and will feature both solo and partner play.
The campaign is live and you can back Gorinto now. Have a look, and if it's not for you maybe pass it on to someone you know that would love that kind of game. Thank you for checking it out. we are very grateful for your continued support.
Backerkit surveys
I have set up the Backerkit pages. I am going to run the smoke test which means in in the test 5% of you will get your survey notifications from Backerkit to check your pledge, pay shipping, make sure your address is correct and get a chance to add stuff. This is a first run so we can make sure everything is working as it should. So please, let me know if you find anything strange. If you don't get a survey in this pass, that's ok. The actual survey will go out on Feb 20th Australia time and you will get it then.
Pre-Orders are Open!
For those of you that have friends that might want to get a copy of Rare Roses, the Pre-Order store is open! I have to admit I'm pretty proud of how well Rare Roses has been accepted. Within the first 24 hours of the pre-order store being open, we already have over a dozen orders. I'm quietly optimistic that this game will become a favorite for many. Nature affecting the schedule
Many Kickstarters are delivered late. I don't want to be one of them. To that end, I made sure that the game was basically complete before doing the campaign and put plenty of padding into the schedule. As many of you know, here in Australia we've had massive fires that have disrupted things pretty well, followed by floods that to be honest, were a double edged sword. Helped control the fires, but ruined many other homes and facilities. However, this didn't affect China and our manufacturer.
Then there is the Novel Coronavirus problem that is sweeping the world. This did affect our manufacturer. However, we have plenty of padding in the schedule to account for a couple weeks of slippage. So as of today, we are still on schedule to deliver in May. At this point I am not expecting to be late. That being said, the Coronavirus issue is not resolved yet and it will have a cascading effect on manufacturers in China and backlogged shipping. I will keep you up to date as best I can.
GenCon and The Game Crafter
As I think I mentioned in the last update, I'll be attending GenCon in person this year. I have submitted some Rare Roses 'Play The Designer' events to the schedule that, if all goes well, will be at 10am each of the four days of GenCon. However they have not locked in the schedule yet and that may slip. I will keep you informed, but please look for: "Rare Roses - Play with the Designer to Win a copy" in the event planner when it goes live on May 17th 2020. Hopefully I'll know when they lock in the schedule before then. :-) Even though you will (almost) all have a copy already free to sign up if you like.
When I'm not in either of those two places, I'll be at the Grand Gamers Guild booth in the Expo Hall or wandering around the Expo Hall wishing I had more luggage space. Happy to wander the halls and chat with you, or find a table to play a game too!
I really hope to see many of you there. It would be great to meet you. If you are the type that likes to have your games signed, bring it with you. I'm happy to sign it.

Rare Roses - Mid Manufacturing Update

Hello Everyone!
It's been a while since my last update. Holidays, craziness (sick, fires in AU etc) and waiting for Chinese New Year. ;-) But we are back in action and things are going very well. I think we are on track for May delivery as stated in the campaign. There is something to work out with the box art, and I had to do final edits to the rule book. I'm finalizing the Backerkit system and getting lined up with Quartermaster Logistics for the fulfillment. Now, we wait for the boxes to hit the dock. ;-)
Once I get the Backerkit system finalized you'll be receiving your survey to make sure we have your address correct and for the shipping costs. This is also your chance to order extra copies and I'm working on a bit of Merch to put in there too. So keep an eye out for that.

Rule Book
I’m pretty sure I have the final version of the rule book ready and I’ve sent it to the manufacturer. Here is a link to a PDF version for you all to have a look at. If you do see a typo please let me know. I checked it and it went through at least two other edits checks but sometimes gremlins get to work on things. You can find the English version at this link.
At CanCon we started taking pre-orders for Rare Roses. I have to say the reception was fantastic. 70% of the people that sat down and played it pre-ordered it. That's always a good feeling as a designer. One of the question I was asked there is what sleeves would fit the cards. If you are a sleever, you'll want to get the Tarot Sized (70x120mm) sleeves. They should fit the Order Cards nicely.
Gen Con
I’ll be at Gen Con this year and spending some time in the Grand Gamers Guild booth. I’ve also submitted some game sessions to the Event schedule for Rare Roses where you can play Rare Roses with me. They haven’t gotten to the acceptance date yet so keep an eye out for that. Even if you don’t play in the official event, we can always just grab an open play table and have a game or two. I hope to see many of you there!

Hello Everyone
Well as we all get back from our Holidays I'm sure you are anxious to look forward to something other than just work. Well, Rare Roses is on schedule and we are still looking at April 2020 delivery. The Order Cards are being printed and I'll have them shortly for signing. I'll be sending the revised versions of the component tray and box art this weekend. So we're looking good.
ACTION REQUIRED
I need some of you to do something for me. As I mentioned in the campaign. We will be printing our Day One backers in the rule book. That means I'll be putting your name in there if you are backer 121 or below. So for those of you who are backer 121 or below, if you are happy with your name as it appears in your Kickstarter Profile, we are all good.
If you do NOT want your Kickstarter Profile name in the book, and would rather have your real name in there, please MESSAGE me. Don't put it in the comments. To be clear, you ONLY need to do this if you want to change your name from what is in your Kickstarter Profile. If you are happy with how your name appears in your Kickstarter profile and want that one in the rule book, ignore this.
Also, I will be taking the liberty of capitalizing your names. Some of you have lower case aliases, or first / last names. I will be 'proper casing' them for you.
For example, if your name appears as:

Conference News
In other news, here are the conferences where we are expecting to have Rare Roses for sale this year. You will be able to see it and play it. My partner Marc Specter from Grand Gamers Guild will be selling it at his booth and running play sessions for it at these conferences.

PAX AUS - TBA ( I will be there in person but Grand Gamers Guild won't)
I'm going to try to have some events at Gen Con. Where players will get to play with me and win a copy of the game. Hopefully I can get the events listed in time. Happy New Year!
Well by now I think it's New Years 2020 around the world. So Happy New Year to all of you! I hope this year brings you many new and wonderful gaming experiences, and of course, Rare Roses!
Update On Manufacturing
I sent in all of the card art, and the manufacturer called me. He said that their new setup puts 44 cards on a sheet. Then he mentioned that we only had 38 cards, and for 44 cards, there would be no extra cost... So, me being me, I designed and added 6 new Order Cards and send them over yesterday. Now Rare Roses will come with 44 Order cards instead of 38. BONUS!
So they have the Card Art, the Shop cards, Coins, and Rose Tiles. They are going to do the Order Cards first and I'll post pictures when I get them for you to see.

Hello Everyone,
I hope you have a great Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, or whatever you celebrate at this time of year. Maybe even Happy time off work for board gaming.
Things are progressing here. Kickstarter has transferred the funds to us and the Backerkit page is going through checks and approvals. I've send the artwork for the cards, Rose Tiles and Coins to the manufacturer. I finished up the final layout for the rule book and need to proof it before sending it off.
We wanted to get the cards done first, so that I can sign the Stretch Goal card, then send it back to them for packaging into the game. So far things are on track. There will be a quiet period with the manufacturer in February, and I want to get the manufacturing started, or near finished before Chinese New Year.
I will probably not post another update until after New Years. Stay safe, and enjoy time with your families. Play lots of games!
